Your Mind Deserves To Be Healthy And Here Are Ways To Overcome Brainrot

What is one thing you do once you get up in bed in the morning?

Is it reaching your phone?

If yes, then you are not alone, in fact, the things we do on the phone like reading the news for hours or binge-watching low quality content is known as “brainrotting”.

“Brainrot” was voted as the Oxford Word of the Year in 2024, thus the embarrassing loop still remains popular for how people are chronically online. Such activities like playing video-games, excessive exposure or doomscrolling to online content on social media can lead to mental exhaustion and to being overstimulated.

4 Simple Ways To Avoid Brainrot:

Set Boundaries
For starters, you may feel like you have to lock yourself out from your phone. It is just a matter of time management, easily just be mindful of how long you have stared at your phone before you drown too much comfort on your bed. Be mindful to take a break every 15 minutes from staring at the screen.

Go Outside
Nature has healing powers against mental fog.  Literally “touch grass” if you must, get your gardening tools, or go for a 10–minute walk.

Do One Task At A Time
Sometimes overthinking your chores can make you procrastinate and then relax with your phone instead. Practice achieving your tasks in a given time. If it can be done within 5 minutes then do it right away.

Connect With Loved Ones
Spend time with your family or meet up with friends at a local cafe. Play with your furbuddies, those things can give a natural serotonin boost.
